At Traditional Carpentry we have our own fully equipped workshop where we are able to manufacture our own bespoke sash windows to match the originals.

Style Match

We can match the mouldings and horns of your existing sash windows onto your new single or double glazed sash windows so that they remain in keeping with the character of the property.

We glaze and fully decorate all our joinery to your specification, so you can be sure that the same high standard of work is carried out from start to finish.

Custom Finish

We will decorate your windows to your desired finish (gloss, satin, stain, white, black etc) with acrylic or oils based paint, even a combination to make sure you have the sash windows you require.

Safe & Secure

We can supply and fit single or double glazed sashes with all types of patterned or safety glass available, all of which will comply with building regulations. (part L)

In nearly every situation where the windows are put back to replicate the original features the value of the property is increased by more than the cost of replacing the windows

Replacing or re-instating box sash windows, casement windows and doors is often the only option if the windows and doors are beyond repair or if you simply want double glazing. New windows are the only option when the original windows and doors have been replaced with UPVC double glazing or other types of windows and doors.

Glass
Specification

All new glass single and double glazed is fitted to comply with current building regulations. All single glazed replacement sashes will be glazed with 4mm glass, clear or patterned and conform to BS6262

Double glazed units will be 18mm (4.10.4) and come Argon gas filled. The u-value of the units are 1.5W/m2K

Wood
Specification

As standard all new joinery is made in Mahogany (hardwood); however we also supply joinery grade softwood (Scandinavian redwood), BC pine and Accoya windows.

Decoration

All our new sash windows and doors are spray painted using Teknos microporous paints. They are one of the leading European providers of water-based timber coatings, which is why we use Teknos microporous paints as standard for all of our services.

Single Glazed

As a standard will only have 2 coats of Teknos undercoat (unless specified).

Double Glazed

Windows will be fully decorated to a gloss or satin finish using our spray system

Our single glazed windows only have 2 coats of Teknos undercoat because the putty needs 2-4 weeks to get a skin before it can be decorated. To keep the lead time down to a minimum we would fit the windows with an undercoat only. We are able to fully decorate single glazed windows but this will increase the lead time by 2-4 weeks.

Finishing touches:

Key locks are provided as standard, along with sash lifts and sash pulls. Restrictors are also available. Choice of polished brass and satin chrome as standard but full catalogue is available for alternatives.
