Aftercare

To maintain the quality and longevity of your new double glazed sash windows, it is important to follow a consistent aftercare routine, this will have your windows last more than a lifetime.

Start with regular cleaning: use mild soapy water and a soft cloth to clean the window frames and glass, avoiding abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish and seals. Keeping your windows clean will not only enhance their appearance but also ensure their best functionality.

Lubrication is another key aspect of window maintenance. Apply a silicone-based lubricant every couple of months to the moving parts, such as pulleys, locks, and hinges, to ensure smooth operation. Avoid using oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dust and dirt, which may impede the windows performance over time.

Periodic inspection of your windows is essential to identify and address any signs of wear or damage early on. Look for cracks in the glass, gaps in the seals, or issues with the frame. Early detection can prevent more serious damage and costly repairs. Call us immediately if you spot any of these issues.

Additionally, managing condensation is crucial for maintaining the integrity of your double glazed sash windows. Ensure proper ventilation in your home, especially in areas prone to humidity like kitchens and bathrooms, by using extractor fans to maintain a dry environment.

Seal maintenance is also vital for the efficiency of your windows. Regularly check the weatherstripping and seals around the windows for any signs of wear and tear. Call use to replace any damaged or worn-out seals to prevent drafts and maintain energy efficiency. If your windows have wooden frames, periodically inspect them for signs of rot or insect damage, and repaint or re-stain the frames every few years to protect against the elements.

By following these aftercare steps, you can keep your double glazed sash windows in excellent condition, ensuring they remain functional, energy-efficient, and visually appealing for many years.
